The Milehouse

Tucked away on Milehouse Lane in Newcastle-under-Lyme, The Milehouse has steadily built a reputation as more than just a local favourite-it’s become a go-to spot for comforting British fare, easygoing vibes, and an impressively curated drinks list. Whether you’re dropping in for a relaxed lunch or winding down with a hearty dinner and a glass of wine, there’s something about The Milehouse that just feels like home-with a touch of flair.

Step inside and you’ll immediately notice the warm, welcoming atmosphere. The layout offers both cosy indoor seating and a spacious outdoor area, ideal for soaking up the sunshine with a mocktail or cocktail in hand. Accessibility is clearly a priority too-wheelchair-friendly entrances, toilets, seating, and parking make it inclusive for all guests.

Let’s talk food-because that’s where The Milehouse really shines. Their Sunday Lunch Roast Beef is a proper classic, with tender slices of beef, crispy roasties, and rich gravy that earns repeat visits. For those craving something with a bit more punch, the Tomahawk Steak delivers both in size and flavour. Served perfectly seared with sides that balance richness and crunch, it’s a standout on the menu. Meanwhile, seafood lovers will want to dive into the Fish and Chips-flaky, golden, and served with all the trimmings.

Looking for lighter options? The Crispy Beef Salad adds a surprising twist to the typical salad game, offering both crunch and umami in every bite. Vegans and vegetarians aren’t left behind either; The Milehouse includes thoughtful options like a Vegan Dessert that skips the dairy without sacrificing indulgence.

Appetisers are no afterthought here either. The Prawn Cocktail is a retro classic done right, and the Scotch Egg is often raved about for its golden shell and creamy yolk. The Arancini, crispy on the outside and rich on the inside, makes a great start for anyone who loves risotto with a twist.

And when it’s time for dessert? You’re spoiled for choice. The Sticky Toffee Pudding is everything it should be-moist, dense, and dripping in toffee sauce. But if you’re feeling fancy, go for the Raspberry and White Chocolate Cheesecake with Champagne Sorbet-yes, it’s as dreamy as it sounds. Chocolate fans aren’t forgotten either, with both a Chocolate Fudge Cake and a Chocolate Brownie that round out the menu with sweet satisfaction.

Of course, a restaurant’s not just about the food-it’s about the drinks too. And The Milehouse delivers with a great beer selection, craft cocktails, quality wines, and aromatic teas and coffees that pair perfectly with every course. Whether you’re sipping a mocktail on the terrace or enjoying a glass of red with your steak, the drinks menu is impressively versatile.

Open for lunch, dinner, and even solo dining, The Milehouse manages to strike that tricky balance between casual and refined. It’s the kind of place where you can show up in jeans for a laid-back meal or get dressed up for date night and still feel perfectly in place. The Full English Breakfast is also worth noting for early risers, offering all the traditional favourites on one plate-ideal for a weekend treat or a post-night-out recharge.

Service is as it should be-friendly, attentive without being overbearing, and genuinely interested in making sure you have a great time. And if you can’t stay? Take advantage of their takeaway and delivery options, which bring The Milehouse’s comforting flavours right to your doorstep.

From the Grill Burger to the Satay Chicken, from bold flavours to beautiful plating, The Milehouse proves that local restaurants don’t have to compromise on quality. There’s a reason it’s earned a loyal crowd.

The food and pricing is perfect. Great quality at the right price. My ONLY comment would be the chairs need desperately reaplacing. There's a wooden block under the back of the seat that you can feel throughout the meal. I swapped the chair out for one of the square type which was fine, but the round seated ones need burning!! Hellishly uncomfortable and a reason for me not to return. Sort out the seating!

I came here with my friends this week to celebrate my graduation and we had the best time. Firstly, the bar team were friendly and accommodating when my friend requested a cocktail that was not on the menu. Secondly, Lucas was lovely and had helped my Nan sort out a gift card for us! Then for the meal, Grace our server was the perfect balance of attentive without being intrusive. Each of us thoroughly enjoyed the food and our experience at this restaurant. Thank you to the whole team for making a special day even better!

Me & my wife came here for a date night, we booked for a 6:30pm table on a Saturday which was the perfect time as it was not too busy. It starts to get very busy after 7:30pm. We where sat in a corner table which had a nice view of the restaurant. My wife had the Palm violet gin and I had a pepsi max. The gin was nice and they did have a good choice of cocktails. For the meals, wife had the rump steak cooked to medium well and which tasted good but the chip with cheese & truffles was amazing. I had the brisket which was really nice to eat. For dessert the chocolate brownie with hot custard was very delicious. The fun was quick to come out and the drinks didn't take long. The staff were helpful, especially when my gift card didn't work and they did everything to help resolve the issue. The food & drink is pricey but you are paying for quality. I would recommend this place and look forward to going back soon l.

We came off the motorway to get some fuel and decided to chance getting a table here on our way out of Stoke. So glad we did, they were busy but fitted us in and have to say they were really nice staff. The atmosphere was relaxed and the decor was very nice. Our order was quick but the food tasted fresh and quality, well worth the money. Overall a good experience and probably eat there again but we live in Plymouth, bit far for a night out.

Dined here on Tuesday night with friends and had a fantastic night. We know we chat a lot so asked to be moved from a couple we’d been sat next to (for their benefit not ours!!). We enjoyed fabulous food and were expertly looked after by Jamie and Brad. What lovely lads who are a credit to the Milehouse. Their service was impeccable and we had a giggle with them too!! Many thanks Jamie and Brad :)
